Jimmy Breslin wins "Jerk of the Week". Actually, he should win twice -- once for the silly article he wrote, and once for the radio interview.

The utter, rank hypocrisy of Hillary Clinton's comments is staggering. The 80's were the "Decade of Greed", but the 90's marvelous years of growth and prosperity? What the heck? I guess if the Democrats are in charge, then anything is fine, but if the Republicans are in charge, its nothing but sin and horror. Man, that lady has a lot of chutzpah.

Strangely enough, I actually agree with George McGovern.

The SEC is actually going to make corporate CEO's of publicly traded companies swear that their corporate reports are accurate. That's fine, thought I'd rather have the marketplace cause that rather than government force. But anyway, here's the interesting thing. Part and parcel to all this corporate scandal has always been "excessive" salaries for corporate executives. Well, the recent changes are only going to increase the risk that CEO's take, and thus increase their salary demands. Should be interesting to see what happens with all that.

I've talked before about what an utter disgrace prison rape is, and how more men are raped each year in America than women are. Now, it actually looks like Congress may look into it. It seems that prison rape is spreading disease and a disturbing rate, and making ordinary prison sentences into death sentences for some. I think this is a flagrant stain on our civilization, and it is actually one of the rare times that I agree with Ted Kennedy, who is sponsoring a bill to try to do something about it.

So I am reading a little sports blurb about the new announcers for NBA games as the league has switched networks, and I read this quote:

``With the NBA returning to ABC Sports for the first time in nearly three decades, we have assembled an announce crew that provides credibility and instant name recognition,'' ABC Sports president Howard Katz said Thursday.

Now, read the first clause -- "for the first time in nearly three decades". Does that make sense to you? Of course it is "for the first time". It wouldn't be in nearly three decades if it weren't the first time, right?

Reminds me of sports announcers who say things like "The Lions haven't won three consecutive games since 2001". I mean, big deal. A whole year. They throw out these completely content free "statistics" all the time.

Drives me crazy.
