WOOHOO! Gophers win the national title in Hockey. That's the second one this month!

Funny, ever since Israel starting using their army to defend themselves against the Palestinians, there haven't been any homicide bombers in Israel. Must be a wild coincidence.

So I am watching TV with my kids, and they advertise a movie called ClockStoppers. It's main appeal seems to be the ability get away with misbehavior. One ad had a child "stopping time" so that she could dump her dinner on her brother's plate, thus appearing to have "obeyed" her mother about eating dinner. Is there any wonder why people like me don't want their kids exposed to "popular" culture?

A lot of people mock Jerry Falwell. I say he's a pretty wise man. He wrote this in a recent emailing:

"A few months ago, newsman Dan Rather declared that, despite his habit of willful lying, Bill Clinton is an honest man. Such bullheaded misrepresentation of the facts has become fashionable today. Britney Spears can bump and grind in her videos and be portrayed as wholesome. Jesse Jackson can make a fortune in the name of civil rights and be called admirable. And terrorism designer Yasser Afafat can authorize abject lawlessness and be depicted as an agent of peace."

I agree -- how is it that we call killing babies "pro-choice"? Why are we so full of unbelievable doublespeak?

Okay, let's review: Israel is a free-market democracy. The Palestinian Authority is, well, a tyrannical dictatorship. Israel is prosperous, free, and producing goods and services valued the world over. The Arab nations in the Middle East produce....nothing (The west does most of the oil work for them.), and all the Arab governments in the region are oppressive, murderous tyrranies. Arabs live, work, and prosper in Israel. Jews are murdered in and driven from Arab nations. The Palestinians are murdering Israelis in droves. The Israelis are attacking the Palestinians in an effort to get them to stop doing that. Israel wants to be left alone. The Palestinians want to exterminate the Israel and the Jews. Yet somehow, we in the West are obsessed with "compromise" and "even-handedness" in this clearly one-sided situation. This irritates me.

I totally love the Human Clock. Definitely in the "why didn't I think of that!" category.

Instead of "Suicide Bombers," we should call these crazed maniacal Palestinians who blow themselves up what they are, and that is "Homicide Bombers."

People -- college kids mostly, or so it seems -- are always complaining about "Big Corporations" and how they "control our lives". They complain about how "Big Corporations" are "forcing" them to do things and how they control everything, own politicians, etc. This makes me laugh. What in the heck, exactly, are they talking about? I mean, name one freedom that you have that a corporation denies you. The whole notion is silly, as if IBM or Exxon has some secret police force breaking down doors and imprisoning people who don't buy their products or swear eternal allegiance to them. In fact, I defy anyone to point out a single way in which a corporation, when not backed by the force of the government, limits your freedom in anyway. The whole thing is a lot of nonsense.

A lot of folks want slavery reparations. I agree. I hereby call on Congress to bestow $100,000,000 on each and every person in the world who was ever held as a slave here in these United States. You must prove your case, however. No latecomers or descendents. Only real, honest to goodness slaves.

It's a bit tough to think of what to say here when you actually are sitting in front of the computer ready to type. I am always thinking "I should blog that!," but when I want to think of something to add, I am coming up empty. I guess that it will be easier now that BlogSpot makes it so pathetically easy. I guess, too, I first ought to make sure that you know about my personal web site at www.nickhodges.com.

This is the inaugural post to Nick's WebLog.
