There's almost nothing more pathetic than an aging, declining athlete that doesn't know when to hang it up. Think Johnny Unitas playing for San Diego, Patrick Ewing, or Jordan for the Wizards. Now, instead of remembering Michael for pushing off on Byron Russell and sinking the shot to win the NBA title, my final memory of him is limping off the court with ice bags tied around his knees. Unless he comes back next year, and then who knows what he'll do for a last act. When it is time to go, go in a blaze of glory. Jordan could have done that, but he just couldn't stay away. Akeem Olajuwon, please, for all of our sakes, retire.

Of all the prices that you can pay when you buy things, free is my favorite one.

Even more proof that the IRS is the most oppressive organization in the free world.

Those mean old Israelis are actually stopping ambulances! Why, those kind, gentle Palestinians would never use ambulances to transport explosives and try to kill Colin Powell. Never!

Good news on the freedom and rights front.

The NutJob of the Week award goes to Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-Ga.) who thinks that 9/11 was a Republican plot to make money Is she serious? Good grief, what an amazingly stupid thing. Does she have a brain in her head? This is an astoundingly stupid thing to say. Jonah Golberg goes off on her much better than I can.

I won't ever tire of saying this -- The IRS is the most oppressive organization in the free world.

Pete duPont has the goods on the disaster that is the US tax code. Read some of those numbers -- 5.4 billion man hours preparing returns! -- and you should be shocked. Will anything get done to fix this monstrosity?

Who is John Jacob JingleHeimerSchmidt, and why is everyone always shouting about him?

Put this one in the "It makes me want to puke" file: “He is the most gracious and pleasant man I have ever met.” -- Richard Copland, Head of the American Society of Travel Agents, after meeting Fidel Castro. (Just a quick reminder in case you haven't heard -- Castro is murdering, torturing butcher of a tyrant who has ruled his country with an iron fist for 40 years.) As you read this, his henchman are torturing people for no other reason than they want ot be free. How "gracious and pleasant" can such a man be? What kind of moron would think he was so? (Thanks to Jay Nordlinger for this quote).

"One of the sad signs of our times is that we have demonized those who produce, subsidized those who refuse to produce, and canonized those who complain." -- Thomas Sowell

I'll say it again -- The IRS is the most oppressive organization in the free world.

What? A court that actually acknowledges my right to defend myself? There is hope for all of us freedom lovers out there.

Without question, the IRS is the most oppressive organization in the free world. What kind of country to we live in when we can slap a tax burden on someone that is twice what a person makes in a year? Good Grief.

If only Bill Gates had a penny for every time windows crashes...

Wait! He does!

I took this from a Borland Newsgroup message by Heimir Tomm. I wish I had thought of it.

Just another reason that my kids will never go to a public school.

They are dangerous, and in the wrong hands, they can kill countless people every year. They must, therefore, be banned.

This is a funny one: Apparently Speedy Gonzales has been banned from the US version of Cartoon Network, but Cartoon Network Latin America hasn't banned it because he is very popular. Go figure.

I have long believed in the "Defining Deviancy Down" theory -- the belief that our society gains acceptance for deviant behavior by convincing everyone that deviant behavior is normal, i.e. redifining the meaning of deviancy. The most common example is homosexuality. As few as 35 years ago, homosexuality was considered deviant, and yet today, homosexuality is viewed as "just another lifestyle choice" and taught as normal in our schools. I contend that the next deviant thing that the Left will try to make normal is pedophilia. This article shows what I mean. Mark my words -- in twenty years, we conservatives will be on the "wrong" side of this issue.

Rule Number One for Protesting "Racial Profiling" -- Never let the truth get in the way.

Sometimes Jonah Goldberg makes so much sense it scares me.

Why is it okay when a congressmen seduces young boys, but not okay when Catholic priests do it?

It is my view that everyone in America should be required to speak English. The best way to keep people from thriving and succeeding in America is to do everything you can to discourage them from learning English. People who don't know English are at a distinct disadvantage in this country, and if you do things to make it so that they don' t have to learn English, then you are not helping them.
