Thursday, April 18, 2002Tiger Woods is one of my heros.Needing Israel by Daniel Gordis is a wonderful editorial about why Israel exists, and hopefully will continue to exist. Wednesday, April 17, 2002I am driving down the highway, listening to the news on the radio at the top of the hour. They talk of the new Bin Laden tape, and it has one of the 9/11 hijackers ranting about how awful America is. Then the newcaster says that this film was "apparently" made before September 11. "Apparently?" Gee, ya think?I am glad to see that finally the mainstream press is picking up on the fact that Jesse Jackson is running a big blackmail racket. "Give me a big donation and hire my 'sensitivity consultants' for big money or else I'll boycott you and make a big stink on the national news" is apparently a very lucrative business plan. It also happens to stink to high heaven. Why anyone pays any attention to that charlatan is a big mystery to me. Tuesday, April 16, 2002While I am saddened at the death, this article, headlined Tree Sitter Dies in Platform Fall does have to give one pause. I mean, the gal was protesting logging, but built herself a plywood treehouse to sit in? Plywood? And she's protesting logging?Few Results As Powell Visit Closes -- jeez, I could have told you that before the guy went. What did he expect? What does anyone expect? What, for that matter, would a peace agreement look like, anyway? I thought the Oslo accords was the peace agreeement to end all peace agreements? Isn't the fact that the Oslo accords are now a joke enough to prove to a smart man like Colin Powell that their is no peace to be had with Arafat? It is a sorry day indeed when the tax code is Russiais freer and more right-wing that ours is. Monday, April 15, 2002The IRS is the most oppressive organization in the free world.Sunday, April 14, 2002It seems strange to be linking to Slate for an article on campaign finance reform, but Mickey Kaus hits this one dead on. The utter folly and hubris of this bill is amazing. I had no idea that my own Senator -- it lovely Paul Wellstone -- played such an interesting role in all off it. |
